What is a meaningful way to practice self care that carries throughout your life?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It probably comes as no surprise to you that we wholeheartedly believe that flexible work falls well within the range of self care. No really! Hear us out!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jackkelly\/2021\/07\/25\/working-9-to-5-is-an-antiquated-relic-from-the-past-and-should-be-stopped-right-now\/?sh=693a351f40de\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The traditional work week as we know it<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; 5 days a week, 40 hours a week- was the brainchild of Henry Ford to support his assembly line concept. Flexible work offers choice. Choosing when, what, and where you work provides options that prior generations didn\u2019t have available.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019ve seen the clickbait surrounding self care, then chances are you\u2019ve also seen clickbait bemoaning the adverse effects of sedentary lifestyles- i.e. sitting at a desk from 9 to 5, five days a week. While researchers aren\u2019t exactly sure WHY sitting for long periods of time leads to so many health issues, data proves that it does. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.harvard.edu\/pain\/the-dangers-of-sitting\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hours upon hours logged in a chair leads to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, deep-vein thrombosis, and metabolic syndrome.<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, how does flexible work qualify as self care?<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working flexible hours lessens time spent sitting and allows you to participate in the things that matter most in life: loved one\u2019s birthdays, vacations, coffee with friends, movie nights with your kids, and so much more.
